MRP is Not MAXIMUM Retail Price for Online sellers!!

How eCommerce sites and/or online sellers make money by running offers!!

I wanted to buy a 64GB SD card with class 10 and I had a look at different pricing options in Amazon.in. I opted to go with this amazon fulfilled product which was selling for ~44% discount (having MRP ₹3149)…. WOW! That’s really great.

Then placed an order for the same on 1st July and seller shipped the product immediately through Indian Postal Service’s EMS.

Before receiving the product, I simply went to Flipkart to compare the product and I ended up seeing similar product was selling for ₹2000. No surprise for me by seeing the offer price, but the MRP really surprised me it was ₹4500!! May or may not, the info could be correct as per the product available with Flipkart, or they are trying to fool the customers by giving the product with 54% DISCOUNT!!

I received the product on 4th July, even though it delayed 1-1.5 days due to my mistake by putting wrong PIN Code. Great job Indian Postal Service… Thank you.

Wait, its still surprising…

I checked the MRP of the product I received in the product wrapper. It was just ₹2650, which was claimed as ₹3149 in Amazon…. Basically I got the product for an amount lesser than MRP, there is no complaint about that… But the % discount was not ~44%.

I’m not worrying about what I got today, lets think this way, what if they are not running a discount offer for that product, and someone else or I got a product which has lesser MRP? Who will end up with complaints? Why Amazon/Flipkart is not verifying the product prices? Or isn’t it possible to check these information?

GUYS, PLEASE BE ALERT WITH PRODUCT PRICES WHILE PURCHASING ON/OFFLINE

UPDATE – 08-July-2015
