Ride to Srirangapatna ಶ್ರೀರಂಗಪಟ್ಟಣ Part-I

A Sunday ride to Srirangapatna, with my Chennai mansion mate, Sandeep, who works at MRF and my wife. Srirangapatna cannot be covered in a single day, so I’ve decided to publish it in parts, as and when I make a trip to there.

We started late after the breakfast, around 11AM. First target was Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, which is at the bank of river Kaveri.

Near the entrance gate, we saw a group of goats and couple of goatherd far away from road, and decided to take a photo. A small stream was flowing there and we clicked few clicks.

They were going away and we decided not to take pics now and can click on the way back, if they are there.

The road was too good, and road side was maintained well.

The sanctuary is well maintained with flora and fauna! Different varieties of plants are there. A well maintained garden, beside which a small natural stream is flowing.

Boating in the river Kaveri, is the most attractive facility at the sanctuary. The ticket price is ₹60. We can get closer look of birds while doing in the hand rowing boat.

It was stinking when we rowed near the birds, lot of birds, lot of poops… 😀 lol

The guide cum driver pointed his fingers to the ROCK and said its a crocodile! People behind started murmuring that this guy is blabbering it. I clicked a photo of it and shown to others and then only they could believe it! We were not knowing that the sanctuary has the presence of Crocodiles!

Again it happened, the guide pointed his finger on top a rock, under the shrubs and said, that’s a baby crocodile. As happened before guys started blabbering, I could manage a pic and show to them to shut their mouth 😀

The guys who were blabbering behind were telling that all these guides are programmed to point their fingers and tell what it is where it is etc… lol Funny guys indeed.

We have returned from the bird sanctuary around 2:15PM and headed to Srirangapatna. As decided earlier, stopped near the same place where we saw goats near by the stream and clicked few. Could see different varieties of goats and few donkeys.

In-order to reach road, they have to jump the stream.

First set of goats taken shortest way to jump, but majority of goats jumped fell into water (Could click few, but out of focus!). Suddenly, one goat started moving to the direction we came from, and crossed the stream with ease. Seeing this other goats followed it and crossed successfully. Few other big goats took another route, which is lengthy, but they could succeed!

Funny part was 3 donkeys, out of which one was dare to jump others not. They ran back to the field and the goatherd ran behind it. They took the man away… lol, at last they came on road through different route itself 😀

The goatherd answered there are 300+ goats in the group, when I asked about the count.

Then we headed to Thotada Mane, a traditional restaurant which is around 3.5km away from Srirangapatna, on the way to Pandavapura. Which I found through Google Maps.

It is very hygienic, fun filled restaurant it is (Later I had recommended this place to my cousins who travel from Bangalore to visit this place once as kids will enjoy the place a lot!)
