Its been a long time I wanted to re-visit the place. It was in 2013, my first visit to Palakkayam Thattu, since then I used to get lot of blog visit to the post.
This time I have decided to go there with cousins, and on the way, forced Shaji to join us. Localites at Naduvil informed us that its raining at Thattu, and might not be worth going there. Still we continued. We, Aparna, Reshmi, Saurav, Dilna and myself started from Taliparamba around 4PM, and Anusha & Sajeesh from Eruveshi. We have decided to meet at Pulikurumba.
We joined Anusha & Sajeesh at Pulikurumba around 5:30PM, and continued the drive to the top (Kottayam Thattu). The road was in good condition, but it narrow & steep. If going on a low powered car with fully loaded, be careful 😉 It took around 15 minutes to reach at the parking place.
From there, must go by a 4×4 vehicle, as there is NO ROAD! Distance to the entrance is approx 1-2km, and for one side (onward or return) jeep drive they charge ₹200, for a group of 10 members its worth 🙂
Started the drive! We trusted the driver and believed that Jeep is Jeep 😉
It took approx 10 minutes to reach the ticket counter aka entrance. The view from there was magnificent!
When I visited the place earlier, the entry was super FREE 🙂
Could see that some adventure sports activities are under development and hopefully, it will be available for public soon..
Started climbing… with regular stops to take pics with background 😉 Selfie gals 😀
Its 6:30now and started pouring suddenly, and to save my Camera, which has already fungus attacked, kept it in the bag, and ran to the peak… Now on only mobile photos, in the foggy, dark evening…
Oh, nice, the adventure development didn’t stop just with Rope Way, they also have varieties of activities in line… DTPC also gave job for some of the localites as DTPC Securities.
There is a tea stall at the top of the hill, and we all had strong hot tea and enjoyed the rain.
It has reduced pouring a bit, and few people were ready to get into the “Zorbing” (Giant Inflatable Ball, where people can enter and roll on a steep). Its around ₹250/head to roll on the short steep 😉
The solar lights are the best thing I loved there (used to see the light from Naduvil even in the early morning!)
The fog, dark and lightning dragged us to return fast, and could witness a strong lighting near by!! One bad thing is that, there was no “Lightning rod” present at the top, though a lot of electric medium were there, and its damn risky!! Luckly no causality reported till date, I suppose!
And its compulsory to take a groupie… time for it… say CHEESEEEE…. 🙂
Note: I used to get visits to the previous post asking
